Murray River

Of the very few paintings that appear for resale,a small painting of the Murray River was sold on Gray's recently.It is a wonderful meandering river approx.2560klms(1600 miles) long and in our area has numerous sandy beaches when the river is low.The painting depicts the river 'running a banker"in which overflow,not flood conditions,would fill a lot of billabongs and lagoons,etc.The beaches are underwater and get a nice cleanup in the flow.There are times when the river is so low mud banks appear and you can just about wade across.I have heard some amazing tales connected to the river from those who spent a lifetime here and in our own 30 years.
